Bauer Vapor
The Bauer Vapor product line is designed to get maximum acceleration and speed out of skaters. Indeed, these skates are built in part for already-quick hockey players who want to take advantage of every stride to push them even faster. Vapor skates -- which include the flagship Bauer skates, the APX -- employ the lightweight yet durable LS2 blade holder and runner system, allowing for quick, sharp turns.
And the skates also feature the x-rib construction that gives the boot incredible stability and support, and a customizable tongue called the Form Fit-2 that flexes well and makes for a good fit. The Bauer Vapor line runs the gamut. While the APX skates are the choice of many top-echelon amateurs and pros, the product line also offers intermediate and beginner skates, too. There’s the Vapor x1.0, which sells for well under $100 yet still offers some of the best design features Bauer has to offer.
Aside from the APX and the Vapor x1.0, there are the Vapor x7.0, x6.0, x5.0, x4.0, x3.0, and the x2.0.
Here are some of the most popular Vapor models:
Vapor APX -- Many say these skates are the best out there. The design marries high-end materials with the best technology for skates that are made to meet the demands of the most advanced players. The Bauer Vapor APX employs a new x-rib construction, and it has the ALIVE composite material that allows for a custom fit.
Vapor x7.0 -- These skates are advanced, too, although not to the extent of the APX. They do feature the X-rib design that provides both support and stability. Those attributes are need by agile, speedy skaters. The boot has a light abrasion-resistant quarter panel and has a top-quality footbed that offers a great fit and is able to control moisture.
Vapor x4.0 -- One of the bestsellers for Bauer, at least among intermediate-level skaters. The skate is more forgiving -- at least somewhat more forgiving -- so skaters who are good but still working on the more tricky skills of skating can advance as a player but not outgrow the skates, skill-wise.
Vapor x3.0 -- This model offers some of the more-advanced features of the Vapor line, but it’s made for the recreational skater. The features include a felt tongue with guard for the metatarsal and the LS2 blade holder.
Vapor x1.0 -- An entry-level model that aspires to be much more. The skates feature the x-rib design that is used on the other Vapor skates. This one definitely tailors to the casual skater, or the beginner. Still, it gives the user a great fit and performance -- trademarks of the Bauer name, the company says.
